  • Like A Cracker

Me: Hey, someone told me that I have dry humor, but I don’t know what it is.
Friend: Dry humor is when you say something outrageous and absurd in a very common and straightforward manner.  And it’s so unexpected that it’s funny.
Me (excitedly): Wow, I do that.  I do that all the time!  Does that mean I have dry humor?
    Friend (hesitantly): Well…
    Me: Or maybe…
    <dramatic pause>
    Me: …I’m just dry.
    Friend: Alban…
    Me (grinning expectantly): Yeah?  What?
    Friend: You’re just not funny.

Disclaimer: I am not beating up on myself.  This is yet another attempt at (dry?) humor.  aka It’s meant to be funny.

  • Do You See What I’m Saying

Me: Can you help me find an article that I read a few months back?
Coworker 1: Sure, what was it about?
M: It’s about this study they did to show how Asian people and American people see the world differently.
    Coworker 2: In what way?
    M:
Well, the study shows that Americans will take in the most active
element they see and focus on it, whereas Asians will look at the whole
picture and describe how all the parts interrelate with each other.
    C2: Are you colorblind?
M: Uhh… what?  What are you talking about?  What makes you think I might be colorblind?
C2: Well, you were saying how Asians and Americans see things differently.
M: Yeah, but did you hear what I was actually saying about how they look at a picture?
C2: Yeah, I know, I was just wondering if you were colorblind.
C1: No, he just dresses that way.
    <Pause to check what I’m wearing>
M: Oh my gosh, this is totally going up on my Xanga.

Well, all monkeys do what they see

Would you believe that this is 2 week’s worth of coffee?  We have less than 30 regular people in the building… and I think less than 10 of them are coffee drinkers!

Woodstock peeks out from behind my keyboard.

I have breathmints nearby so I am always ready to answer the phone…

The little blue post it note on my monitor is my prayer for the week.  I think I ended up praying it like 1000 times today day since I couldn’t seem to concentrate on my work.  Last week, the prayer was “Harden my heart.”

A reminder to continue striving to be who I always wanted to be, and to not be held back by fear.

Yes, that is a calendar from 2005.  yes, I reset it to January.  Yes, I am always a day early to my appointments.

Sometimes, I fold flowers when people walk into my office and drone on and on.  It’s still engineering.
    I’m engineering flowers.

I have two cups: One for tea and the other for coffee.  Today was a coffee day.

and now, it is time to go home.

  • Dont give up.  There is a God who loves you.

For I am the Lord, Your God,
who takes hold of your right hand
    and says to you, Do not fear;
    I will help you.

  • Sunset hunter

It is no secret that I love the sunsets.  Here are my latest spoils.

Binghamton is more beautiful than you thought…

    Who’da thunk? God is everywhere…

    (I
rushed out of work today hoping to catch a picture at a location I
discovered today during my lunch break.  These pictures are
virtually undoctored.  They are only cropped, guided by the advice
of my ever-patient housemate, even as I interrupted his work over and
over again.  Thanks Dave!  You’re a sweetheart… hahaha)

These are posted here for the glory of God, for your enjoyment, and for any advice that the experienced can offer.  Please, teach me more…

    It
is a wonderful feeling to be reminded of God’s goodness.  Even
moreso, it is heartwarming to remember that God is both lovingly
intimate and majestically regal at the same time.

    Jeremiah 23:23,24

     23 “Am I only a God nearby,”
           declares the LORD,
“and not a God far away?

24 Can anyone hide in secret places
so that I cannot see him?”
           declares the LORD.
“Do not I fill heaven and earth?”
           declares the LORD.

I see the fingerprint of God on the faces of those I love, and yet I
can still see these same fingerprints on the entirety of all creation
that I am privy to enjoy.  Simply amazing.

Have you forgotten?  Have you forgotten that God is all around
you?  He is working in your roommate, your dininghall worker, your
professor, and even you.  He has a master plan, and you have not
been left out.  He is right here with you.  In Binghamton, NY
no less.  I know it is hard to believe sometimes, but take a look
around you.  Our God, our great God, is everywhere, and He is
especially here, right now, with you.

novice.  Please, any comments, suggestions, or tips would be
    greatly appreciated.

    Autumn Leaves

    Autumn Moon

    Autumn Moon… 5 minutes ago

I should also make it clear that I am using the cheap-o digital
camera from work which has very few features on it.  This means I
am unable to adjust the aperture or shutter speed settings.  I
normally have my camera with me, but I left that one at home.  I
saw the shot while walking past the window today and decided that I
could not wait until tomorrow to try again. – Who knows what it will
    look like tomorrow.

I should mention that the original subject was to be the leaves on
the tree (hence the first picture).  I found the color to be
extraordinary, especially with the lighting of the setting sun.
However, once I saw that the moon was there, I figured I could include
that in the shot and make the shot a little more interesting (hence the
framing and shifted focus in the second picture).

For the night shot, I realise that a tripod is in order.  I
have one in my trunk – I’ll use it next time.  I just wanted to
grab a shot before I went home.
